The hard drive was hosed

"Back in 2002, my PC's hard drive crashed. I took my PC to the place where I purchased in 2000 for a diagnostic, as no matter what I did I could not get it to reboot. They determined that the hard drive was hosed. They were unable to get it to work and were unable to get anything off of it for me. I lost all my photographs, poetry, business documents, personal files, music, etc. that I had collected on that PC for 2 years. I was heartbroken but I learned a very important lesson: back it up! After that experience, I immediately purchased an external hard drive for back up purposes. I back everything up about twice a month on the external hard drive and/or to CD. I do not ever want to go through that again."
