MAC Version of Memopal Available

09/07/2008

Memopal is the new service for PC and Mac that combines online backup, remote storage and file sharing with 250 GB of real storage space.

Rome (Italy) 01/07/2007: Memopal (www.memopal.com) announces the release of the beta version for Macintosh users. The release, with a user-friendly interface in MAC style, is compatible with Tiger (10.4) MAC OSX and Leopard (10.5) with PPC and Intel processors.

Memopal is the online service that includes the following important functions:
• Online Backup
• Remote Storage
• File Sharing

All of this comes with 250GB of real online storage space. (Other competitors offer only 20GB and others seem to offer unlimited service but in reality charge each GB over a 50GB limit.)

An essential requirement for users is to have access to a unique service that allows for automatic protection of files on a remote server (Online Backup) and which, at the same time, allows real-time access to files from any location and with any device capable of connecting to and navigating the internet (Remote Storage). What's more, Memopal allows for the sharing of saved data with friends and colleagues, by creating a temporary link to any file one wishes to be available for download (File Sharing).

Memopal is a software that installs on your computer and runs completely automatically: Once you've decided what to save, the service starts up together with the computer. You can decide to archive and protect all existing data on your PC or just a selection of folders until the available space is used up (250 GB, expandable). Users have full access to all files and can independently retrieve any files that have been lost or damaged, provided they've been protected with Memopal. In fact, the system keeps track of all modifications made to a given file for a virtually infinite time (versioning). This allows users to retrieve old documents that have been involuntarily overwritten, making it possible to go back and access all previous versions. Memopal does not delete saved files unless the user requests it.
The engineers and systems analysts who designed Memopal created a distributed File System technology called MGFS (Memopal Global File System), thanks to which Memopal saves user data with a logical compression algorithm that is unique in its genre. MGFS allows for the recognition of which files are already present in the system, in order to save new versions only, or just the differences between those already archived. Memopal is Real-Time: Each time a file is saved it is archived online and is available immediately. But that's not all. Memopal features a technology known as Geographical RAID 5 that allows for the saving of data in triplicate, on three different continents, thus protecting files even in the event of a natural disaster.

Memopal is based on a Scalable On-Demand system: A user's available space can be increased at any time, and the use of Memopal does not require the computer it has been installed on. The software monitors to what extent system resources are being used and adjusts to the user's needs. The business version of Memopal contains a component that allows balancing of a company's internet resources, guaranteeing priority to primary internet services (web navigation, e-mail and FTP).
One of the service's most interesting functions is One-Click Sharing. This system allows sharing of videos, images, and music without GB limits. Just right-click on the file you want to share and the person will receive an e-mail with a link to the document.
With Memopal protecting, organizing and sharing files is simple, automatic and secure.
