Store important documents

"Why I Store Most of My Work Online" I'm not very knowledgeable about the Internet. I use the it to check my email and, only lately, I've been using it to watch videos. But what I really want to talk about is why I learned to use the Internet to store all my important documents and work. Until 7 months ago, I kept all my work on my PC. Spreadsheets, Word Documents, and family photos. I mean I knew that there were websites that allowed me to share photos online and save documents on "remote" hosts, but I just never got around to using them. But then one day my data got erased. It just wasn't there anymore. I asked my son to look at my PC.

My son's not a programmer or anything, but he definitely knew more about this sort of thing. So he looked around in my PC for about 15 minutes, and said that my PC was infected with a "worm" which is somewhat like a virus (don't ask me to explain the difference, I don't really understand it myself). Long story short, I lost almost 30 Megabytes of spreadsheets and documents. I also lost many family photos (more than 200 Megabytes). Needless to say, I was upset. This is what made me look at online storage services to store my documents. I know send zipped archives of all my work to myself as an email attachment. My photos are stored on Flickr.

If you have lots of files on your computer, I highly recommend looking at online storage as a "Plan B". Services like Flickr and Gmail are free. Even if you think you don't know much about the internet, it's simply too risky to keep all your documents on your PC. "
