My hard drive crashed

"I have been in college for three years. i was rather proud of my portfolio that i had been building for graduation. In my computer i had saved all of my research papers, articles, topic ideas and letters of reference. Everything was going smoothly and I was sure I would have no problem getting my portfolio approved for graduation. Then my hard drive crashed. I turned my computer on and all I heard was a clicking sound. As far as my computer got in the loading phase was when it asked me to insert the startup disk. My question was..What start up disc? Huh? I'm no computer wiz, so I called my friend who has a bit more experience than I do in this area. He hooked it up at his house, played with it a bit, then told me to buy a new hard drive. Not really encouraging words when you consider that three years of work was stored in my hard drive! Ok, so I learned my lesson. I bought a flash drive and I'm sending my old computer off to try and have some of my data retrieved. From here on out though, I'm saving all of my work to the computer and the flash drive. I think I may even mail myself the files to save on my email account. I know that I don't ever want to experience this issue again!"
