I lost my USB thumb drive
"When I was in college I was enrolled in a Computer Information Systems course my freshman year. As part of our final exam, we had to create a loan amortization schedule and bring it to class. This task comprised 25 percent of the final grade, which is why it was so important. I had it saved to a USB thumb drive along with several other projects for other courses. I had stopped by the computer lab on the way to my final exam to double check my amortization sheet for any mistakes. Apparently I forgot the thumb drive and went on to class without it. About 10 minutes before the class began, I realized I did not have the thumb drive. I raced back to the lab to discover it was no longer there. I explained to the professor what had happened, but he had no remorse and just suggested I be more careful in the future. Since then I have changed my habits on saving information. I now make sure to create backups to my work. I always save a copy to my hard disk, to my new thumb drive, and even e-mail the work to myself as an attachment. Needless to say, I have not made the same mistake again. "
