Broken USB flash drive

"I once lost 1gb of information that was stored on a USB flash drive. This was essential data for my business- names, contact information, log in numbers, passwords, etc. I kept them on this one particular USB drive and also used that drive to back up essential text files. One morning, I was sitting in my office chair and realized I needed something from the file cabinet. As I rolled my chair backwards towards the filing cabinet, I heard a "crunch" under the roller wheel; sure enough, the night cleaning crew had knocked the USB drive onto the floor and didn't bother to pick it up. The information was a total loss and it took me upwards of a week to rebuild it and even then, I wasn't even 50% complete of what I had prior to the drive being destroyed. Now, we back up all essential information that needs to be portable on TWO USB drives - the first for general office use and a second which is locked in the safe every night. We use Centron 4gb flash drives with great success. It seems the only way to lose information on them is to run them over with an office chair!"
